Terrence Jones

Terrence Jones is a seasoned trial lawyer with 15 years of experience trying and winning difficult cases – in both civil and criminal matters. Unlike a lot of attorneys, Terrence didn’t start his legal career at a big firm, making big money, yet toiling away on only the smallest of menial tasks. Terrence began his career at the highest level – trying cases in federal court on behalf of the federal government as a federal prosecutor and U.S. Department of Justice civil litigator. In fact, Terrence has the unique honor of being the first person ever hired directly out of law school by the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Los Angeles, the seat of the most populous federal district in the country. During Terrence’s near decade-long tenure with DOJ, he also had the unique honor of serving in both the Civil Division and Criminal Division of the U.S. Attorney’s Office, receiving a multitude of commendations from the myriad federal agencies he represented, including the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, U.S. Forest Service, and the Transportation Security Administration. Thus, the breadth of Terrence’s foundational experience as an attorney was expansive. On the civil side, Terrence litigated and tried cases ranging from civil rights, to employment, to medical malpractice, to catastrophic collisions, to wildfire suppression. On the criminal side, Terrence litigated and tried cases ranging from financial fraud, to narcotics and weapons trafficking, to healthcare fraud, to violent and hate crime. Today, given the breadth of his DOJ experience, the nature of Terrence’s private practice is just as wide-ranging and has the same degree of civil and criminal intersectionality. Terrence continues to take on – and take to trial – cases spanning white collar criminal defense, civil rights and constitutional violations, healthcare fraud, trade secret theft, and employment litigation. Terrence even became the first lawyer in the country to take to trial the criminal prosecution of a drone operator, for whom he achieved a complete acquittal. This scope and depth are emblematic of a skill that Terrence sharpened at the U.S. Attorney’s Office: the ability to confront a practice area, to learn it from scratch if need be, master it, and then take it to trial and win. Having begun his career with the Department of Justice, that principle – the pursuit of justice – is Terence’s enduring guidepost. Whether his client is an individual or an entity, Terrence is unrelenting in his effort to ensure that those who have been victimized or wrongly accused are vindicated. What’s more, having begun his career standing up in courtrooms in front of juries, that purpose – as a trial lawyer – is Terrence’s true passion. Fundamentally, Terrence believes that one cannot truly purport to “specialize” in a particular practice area unless you’ve actually taken it all the way to trial, which Terrence has done with repeated success throughout his career. Terrence is consistently recognized by his peers for his contributions in and out of the courtroom. He was named one of California’s “Top 40 Under 40” attorneys by the Daily Journal and has received annual recognition for achieving amongst the highest results, statewide, in civil rights cases. Terrence is a longtime board member of the John M. Langston Bar Association, committed to diversity and inclusion in the legal profession, particularly for Black attorneys. Terrence is also a faculty member for the Gerry Spence Method, teaching trial advocacy skills to other attorneys at the Thunderhead Ranch in Wyoming. Terrence received his undergraduate degree from Yale University, where he was President of the Black Student Alliance at Yale (BSAY) and a member of the Kingsley Trust Association. Terrence received his law degree from Loyola Law School, where he was a member of the national championship Byrne Mock Trial Team. Education Yale University, B.A. Loyola Law School, J.D. Suneisha Williams

Attorney Suneisha L. Williams, founder and managing attorney of S. Williams Law Firm, LLC, has dedicated her practice to exclusively representing workers’ compensation and personal injury victims. She was born in Chicago, raised in Mississippi, and relocated to Atlanta in 2013. She graduated magna cum laude from the University of Mississippi (“Ole Miss”) and cum laude from the University of Mississippi School of Law.

Attorney Williams possesses a quality that separates her from most attorneys – the ability to truly place herself in her clients’ shoes and understand their perspective. At the age of 19, while in undergraduate school, she was injured in an automobile accident due to the negligence of another driver. Although she was in excruciating pain, confused, and frustrated because the insurance company was giving her the run around, Attorney Williams eventually navigated the legal system and successfully obtained a settlement for herself that included compensation for her property damage, medical expenses, and pain and suffering.

Licensed to practice law in Georgia and Mississippi, Attorney Williams began her legal career at a notable criminal defense firm where she gained exceptional and unmatched trial experience by trying cases multiple times a week in front of juries. Her courtroom presence has been described as “aggressive yet charming and relatable.” She then began using her impeccable negotiation and trial skills, combined with her competitive and compassionate nature, to prevail against insurance companies and large businesses, recovering millions for her clients.

Sheryl Burke

At the age of 12, I went through the criminal justice system as a victim. It was such a terrible experience that it motivated me to become an attorney. I realized that if I had an attorney who took the time to educate me about the legal process, I would have been more confident and better prepared. I grew more and more committed to becoming an attorney who genuinely cares about their clients.

I started my career as an Insurance Adjuster. Shortly after, I went to law school and practiced corporate law. In 1995, I came to Atlanta to open my own personal injury law firm from just $250.00. Since then, the Law Office of Sheryl Burke has evolved immensely, but our mission and values remain the same. We are committed to justice and ensuring that people are treated fairly.

In addition, I am a member of The State Bar of Georgia, The American Bar Association, Association of Trial Lawyers, Georgia Trial Lawyers Association and The State Bar of California. I am also an Introduction Leader for Landmark Education and a very active tennis player.

Thomas (“Tom”) G. Sampson Sr. is the Managing Partner of Thomas Kennedy Sampson & Tompkins LLP and is the product of a family steeped in the law. His roots are in Durham, where his father, the late Daniel George Sampson, was a law professor and Dean at North Carolina Central University. Like his father, Sampson graduated from Morehouse College and sought a career in law. He has since practiced law for more than 50 years, building a national trial practice and reputation in the fields of personal injury, wrongful death, and medical malpractice litigation. Sampson has represented the City of Atlanta and the State of Georgia in major litigation and has prosecuted catastrophic injury cases resulting in several then record-setting, seven-figure verdicts in state and federal courts . Sampson has several recoveries over $10 million or more; and numerous million-dollar settlements. Additionally, Sampson has successfully represented Fortune 500 corporations in major litigation. Throughout his career, Sampson has often been tapped to serve government, the Bar, and the community. He was appointed by Atlanta Mayor Shirley Franklin to a special panel to evaluate the Atlanta Municipal Court and the City Court of Atlanta. He is also a Special Assistant to the Attorney General for the State of Georgia, having been appointed by Attorney General Thurbert Baker. He was the first African American inducted into the Georgia Chapter of the American Board of Trial Advocates , and he has been listed in every edition of The Best Lawyers in America since 1993. Sampson has served as a Master in both the Bleckley and Logan Inns of the American Inns of Court. In 2007, Sampson was inducted as a Charter Fellow of the Litigation Counsel of America, an honor reserved for less than one-half of one percent of lawyers in America. Locally, Atlanta Magazine has consistently included Sampson in its list of the “Best Lawyers in Atlanta,” and he has been a Georgia “Super Lawyer” in every year of its existence, an honor reserved for the top 5 percent of the lawyers in the State. In 2006, Morehouse College honored Sampson with its Bennie Trailblazer Award , the highest level of recognition bestowed upon alumni by the College. In 2010, for his civic contributions, accomplishments, and leadership, the Atlanta Hawks honored Sampson as a Trailblazer during a special presentation at a Hawks game in Phillips Arena.
