Troy has advised hospitals and health systems, long-term care providers, behavioral health providers, and physician groups on an array of regulatory matters, including telehealth and telemedicine, corporate practice of medicine (CPOM), the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), the Anti-Kickback Statute, and the Stark law.
Troy’s transactional experience includes providing counsel to physician group practices on sales or stock purchases, change of licensure issues, and assignment and change of ownership provisions. He has also assisted clients with various litigation matters, including professional discipline, risk management, and malpractice. Troy has also been named to Best Lawyers® "Ones to Watch" for Health Care Law (2024-present) and is a member of the Virginia State Bar Health Law Section's board of governors. Troy also serves as a member of the CancerLinc Advocate Board.
Troy earned his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Richmond School of Law, where he was vice president of the Alternative Dispute Resolution Society and a member of the Black Law Students Association. He received his Bachelor of Science degree from William & Mary, where he majored in kinesiology and health sciences with a pre-med minor.

Her background in Human Development and Family Sciences from The University of Texas at Austin, combined with her early career as a Level 1 investigator with the Department of Family and Protective Services, gives her unique insight into the challenges families face. Morgan Bodenarain currently serves as the Policy Director and Counsel for the Congressional Black Caucus. Morgan has served under the Chairmanship of Congressman Steven Horsford (NV-04) in the 118th Congress and now serves in this position under the leadership of Chairwoman Clarke (NY-09) in the 119th Congress. Prior to entering this role, Morgan was a Legal Advisor for Commissioner Geoffrey Starks at the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), where she advised the Commissioner on all issues related to access to affordable quality broadband for underserved communities. Morgan also worked in the office of Congressman G. K. Butterfield (NC-01), handling his Telecommunications and Technology portfolio with a heavy focus on issues of equity. Much of Morgan's time in the Congressman's office was spent understanding and researching the impact that a lack of access to the internet had on communities of color during the COVID-19 pandemic. Previously, Morgan served as a Law Clerk for the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions Committee as well as a Legal Telecommunications Fellow in the office of the former Congressman G. K. Butterfield. Morgan earned her law degree from The George Washington University Law School and is currently barred in the Washington District of Columbia. Morgan earned her undergraduate degree from Elon University with a double major in Political Science and Policy Studies.
Nykolas McKissic is a private wealth services attorney in Holland & Knight's Dallas Office. Mr. McKissic focuses his practice on providing strategic counsel to clients in the areas of charitable giving, philanthropy, and domestic and international tax-exempt organizations.
Mr. McKissic leverages his background in mergers and acquisitions (M&A) and complex tax situations to advise clients on qualifications for tax-exempt status, corporate governance practices and policies, and financial and legal compliance.
Prior to joining Holland & Knight, Mr. McKissic was an associate in the nonprofit practice for a national AmLaw 100 firm in Dallas. In addition, Mr. McKissic previously practiced in M&A with a Big Four accounting firm in Chicago, where he advised clients on federal income tax issues relating to corporate taxation, including domestic and multinational strategic mergers, acquisitions, dispositions and separations, with an emphasis on corporate taxation.
Mr. McKissic also has experience assisting equine-focused nonprofits and professional associations in managing their legal matters on a broad array of issues. Mr. McKissic owns three horses and often competes in rodeo sports, including team roping. As a result of his experience with nonprofit organizations and other equine-focused issues, Mr. McKissic is well versed in assisting tax-exempt organizations in handling equine-related matters.
Natasha “Tash” N. Phidd, originally from Long Island, New York, received her undergraduate degree from Princeton University and her J.D. from William & Mary Law School in Williamsburg, Virginia. She is admitted to practice law in Virginia and Washington, D.C.
Ms. Phidd brings a breadth of legal experience to her practice—she kicked off her career as an attorney representing plaintiffs and employee claimants in personal injury and workers’ compensation matters, respectively. Ms. Phidd then practiced in the criminal law space as a dedicated public defender in Northern Virginia, where she tried and resolved numerous cases for juvenile and adult clients facing misdemeanor and felony charges. Currently, she practices in the employment law arena, where she fights for justice for plaintiff employees throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia.
When she is not lawyering, Ms. Phidd enjoys trivia and board game nights with friends, exploring various restaurants in the DMV area, dancing, visiting her family, reading, and watching “Survivor”. She also is a big fan of “dad jokes” (and tells some pretty great ones as well).
