A partner and co-chair of the Litigation Department, Ted Wells has extensive experience in white-collar defense and complex civil and corporate litigation, including SEC investigations, healthcare fraud, FCPA, AML and OFAC investigations, high-profile environmental matters and complex class action litigation. For more than three decades, prominent business figures and politicians, and leading companies in a range of industries have entrusted their gravest legal challenges to him. In particular, Ted is among the nation’s best-regarded trial lawyers, having tried numerous multibillion-dollar cases before judges and juries. Clients have recognized Ted as "an outstanding lawyer who provides sage advice on the most complex of subjects” adding that “he commands respect in every venue in which he appears."

Moreover, Ted has represented Carnival Corporation (environmental prosecution), Mitsubishi Corporation (criminal antitrust prosecution), Nippon Chemi-Con Corporation (criminal antitrust prosecution) and Philip Morris Corporation (civil RICO case brought by DOJ) in a variety of high-stakes litigations and investigations. Ted has also successfully defended major law firms in malpractice actions.

With extensive experience in corporate governance issues, Ted previously served on the Board of Directors of CIT Corporation, a New York Stock Exchange company, where he was a member of CIT’s audit committee.

Ted is a fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers. He has served as co-chair of the White-Collar Criminal Section of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. He has been a faculty member of the Practising Law Institute Trial Advocacy Program, a teaching team member of the Harvard Law School Trial Advocacy Workshop and a lecturer at the Securities Regulation Institute. He has lectured on the use and scope of the RICO statute, the defense of securities, healthcare and environmental criminal and civil matters, federal grand jury procedures and federal sentencing guidelines.

Active in social, political and community affairs, Ted served as national treasurer for Senator Bill Bradley’s presidential campaign and is the chairman emeritus of the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund Board of Directors. He previously served, on a pro bono basis, as general counsel to the New Jersey NAACP, New Jersey co-chairperson of the United Negro College Fund and general counsel to the New Jersey Democratic Party. Ted is a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. Ted is a Fellow of the Harvard Corporation, the governing body of Harvard University.

Inez Asante

Inez Asante is an associate in the Intellectual Property Technology Practice Group in Baker McKenzie's New York Office, where she works primarily on IP transactions. Inez advises multinational and domestic clients in the technology, fashion, luxury, publishing, and financial sectors on intellectual property and technology matters that arise within the course of various transactions. She regularly advises clients on matters involving the acquisition and sale of IP rights for corporate transactions. In addition to her involvement in mergers, acquisitions, and corporate restructurings, her practice includes preparing and drafting license agreements, shared technology agreements, confidentiality and invention assignment agreements among others. She regularly advises on compliance with laws and regulations that concern commercial co-ventures, gift cards, and SAG-AFTRA matters. Inez's related expertise includes brand management, intellectual property, and technology transactions.

Gatluak Ramdiet

Gatluak is an Associate in the Lewis Brisbois's New York office and a member of the Medical Malpractice, Healthcare, Life Sciences, General Liability, Construction, and Toxic Tort & Environmental Litigation Practices.

Gatluak represents individual and institutional clients in complex and high exposure claims in the areas of medical malpractice, construction, products liability, toxic torts and environmental litigation and general liability. As part of the medical malpractice team in the firm’s NYC office, Gatluak represents individual healthcare providers, including physicians, physician assistants, and nurse practitioners, in complex, high exposure claims in the area of medical malpractice.

Prior to joining Lewis Brisbois, Gatluak was an Assistant District Attorney for Bronx County and an attorney at a prominent New York law firm, where he defended doctors, teaching hospitals, health care systems and other medical professionals in complex litigation.

Gatluak was born in South Sudan and became a refugee at the age of 8. He was resettled from Ethiopia to Omaha Nebraska at 15 years old, where he learned to read, write and speak English. His passion for lifelong learning and solving complex problems led him to the practice of law.

He is a global education advocate and speaks to students, teachers, school administrators and policy makers about the transformative power of education.

Fatmata Kabia

Fatmata S. Kabia is Senior Counsel at NBCUniversal Media LLC where she advises various NBC News Group platforms on legal risks associated with newsgathering and assists with pre-publication and pre-broadcast review. Fatmata also contributes her investigations experience in the areas of white-collar crime, sexual misconduct, and human rights. 

Prior to joining NBCUniversal, Fatmata was a Senior Associate at Covington & Burling LLP, where she helped clients navigate internal and government investigations and commercial litigation. Fatmata represented private and public companies, corporate directors, and individuals in a variety of industries including transportation, energy, and financial services. As an associate, Fatmata worked in-house as a secondee in the anti-money laundering group of Goldman Sachs. Fatmata was also involved in Covington’s Africa practice, Business and Human Rights practice, and a range of pro bono matters relating to public international law, voting rights, and immigration.

Fatmata has been a featured speaker and panelist at the World Bank, Cornell Law School, Wharton, Clinton Global Initiative University, and more.
