Alex Reid was born in Gastonia, North Carolina and grew up in Rome, Georgia.The son of a local business owner and an educator, Alex was raised knowing the positive impact that a strong work ethic can have on his professional endeavors. Alex is a proud alumnus of Hampton University where he earned a bachelor’s degree in political science. He then spent the next 3 years at the Charleston School of Law, where he received his Juris Doctorate in 2019. While at Charleston Law, Alex was a member of the Black Law Students Association and Entertainment and Sports Law Society. Additionally, he spent all 3 years of his law school career clerking for the Curry Law Firm, where he primarily focused on criminal defense.
As a black man living in a small southern town, he witnessed the racial disparities of the criminal justice system which ignited his interest in law. Alex fostered a desire to affect change by providing equitable legal representation to the underserved communities. To pursue this purpose, Alex served both Colleton and Charleston counties in his capacity as Assistant Public Defender. During his tenure as Assistant Public Defender, he represented clients on a multitude of criminal charges, from the smallest drug possession to the most serious violent crimes. Alex became a lawyer for one simple reason, to help people and passionately fight for their rights.
Alex is barred federally and in the state of South Carolina. He is a member of the National Black Lawyers Top 40 under 40, Greenville Bar Association, Greenville Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, and the South Carolina Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. In his spare time Alex volunteers with the local Big Brothers and Big Sisters of America, loves exploring Greenville, and spending time with his family and friends.
Joe joined Morton & Gettys in 2019. His practice with the firm is focused on personal injury and family law. He is licensed to practice in both North Carolina and South Carolina.
Joe represents clients in a variety of family court matters including separation & divorce, child custody & visitation, and child support. Joe also has experience in general civil litigation and is a part of the M&G Personal Injury Group.
A South Carolina native, Joe earned his bachelor’s degree and law degree at the University of South Carolina.
Outside of work, Joe Enjoys spending time with his daughter Jyia, cooking and cheering on his Gamecocks.

Attorney Dessausure is a native of Columbia, South Carolina. He graduated from Dreher High School in 1988. While attending Dreher High School he participated in several athletic and social organizations. Mr. Dessausure then attended South Carolina State University where he graduated with honors and as a presidential scholar. He received his Juris Doctorate from North Carolina Central University, where he participated in numerous community and social organizations. Harriet Huell Lampkin is a native of Salters, South Carolina, and the youngest child of Mr. & Mrs. Harry and Linda Huell.
She graduated valedictorian of Kingstree Senior High School in 2001, and summa cum laude from Claflin University, with a degree in Mass Communications, in 2005. She received her master’s degree in Media Studies from The Pennsylvania State University in 2007, and her law degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2010.
Desiring to be an attorney since the tender age of eight, Harriet is 100% certain that God created her for the distinct purpose of practicing law, and specifically, to provide legal guidance from a Kingdom-minded perspective.
Licensed to practice law in both North Carolina and South Carolina, Harriet begin her legal career at a boutique law firm in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina, working in the areas of employment law, litigation, and affordable housing.
Harriet has also worked as in-house counsel, serving as the Executive Vice President of Legal for a large government organization which holds a portfolio of approximately $500 million dollars in real estate, and provides affordable housing to more than 22,000 residents. There, she is directly responsible for the Legal, Risk Management, and Resident Safety Divisions.
Additionally, Harriet serves as General Counsel for Grace Cathedral Ministries, Inc., in Sumter, South Carolina, and as outside legal counsel to several other churches across the Nation.
Harriet’s deep experience as a trial lawyer involving many complex cases has resulted in a strong success record. Harriet has also provided substantial legal counsel to many businesses, entities, gospel recording artists, and entertainers.
Harriet is a member of the Richland County Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., and is Co-Founder of the Jeffrey and Harriet Lampkin Foundation, a non-profit organization that strives to develop excellence in children, and provides a myriad of community service projects to multiple communities in South Carolina and North Carolina. She is happily married to the love of her life, Mr. Jeffrey Lampkin. They reside in Blythewood, South Carolina.
Harriet’s personal philosophy for life is Luke 1:37, “For with God, nothing shall be impossible!”
DeShawn Mitchell focuses his practice on complex litigation involving automotive product liability and toxic tort matters to include asbestos litigation. He is experienced with managing cases from inception to completion. DeShawn has first-chaired two jury trials to verdict and has also conducted several state court bench trials.
Researching legal issues is key to DeShawn's success representing his clients. DeShawn has drafted pleadings, discovery documents, motions, and memorandums of law. He regularly takes depositions, attends hearings, mediations, and trials. As a former Assistant Attorney General in the South Carolina Office of the Attorney General, DeShawn represented the State in post-conviction relief litigation. Additionally, he handled appellate matters on behalf of the State to the South Carolina Supreme Court and Court of Appeals.
In his free time, DeShawn can be found spending time with friends and family. He enjoys watching movies and traveling.
