Having to post bail after an arrest is a generally accepted part of the criminal justice system. But is the ability to come up with bail money inherently biased against the poor? The Southern Poverty Law Center believes it is, and has filed a lawsuit alleging that bail "creates a 'two-tiered' system of justice based on wealth."
