A Message from our new NBL Top 100 President

Friends,

I am honored to serve as the 2023 President of The National Black Lawyers Top 100. Over the years, I’ve seen this organization of impressive African American lawyers grow to include members in a variety of practice areas – all of you excelling in your respective specialties and impacting your legal communities in positive ways. This coming year I will work to continue our organizational growth and to enhance our collective impact in our legal communities and the greater society.

I will work to further our mission to celebrate, promote, and uphold our strong combined legal excellence by enhancing the services and programs The NBL offers and expanding on those programs as necessary. If you have not done so recently, I invite you to visit our website. There you will find a wealth of information including Member Announcements and Community News, where we highlight the exemplary work being done by our members around the country; webinars from past Academy sessions; a membership directory; and a place to shop for NBL swag (if you’re in D.C. join me for a cup of coffee with one of my NBL mugs!). You’ll find other useful information on the website as well. Also, I am delighted to see that many of you have become fully engaged on The NBL listserv, where substantive practical information is shared about case development, office management, and case referrals.

Our inaugural NBL Hall of Fame on January 23, 2023, was outstanding. It was heartwarming and humbling to honor our stalwarts Barbara Arnwine, Fred Gray, Elaine Jones, Judge Charles Price, Hezekiah Sistrunk, Jr., and Ben Wilson. Our next Hall of Fame will be just as spectacular. More details will be forthcoming. It’s an event you will not want to miss. In addition, in the coming year look for information about upcoming Academy webinars, networking opportunities and other activities.

And remember, “…we are each other’s harvest:

                          we are each other’s business:

we are each other’s magnitude and bond.”

                                                         (Gwendolyn Brooks, poet)
