Attorney Afiya F. Hinkson was born in Bronx, New York, but has called Georgia home since her very early years. In May 2009, she began her legal career and has amassed more than a decade of diversified legal experience. She is tremendously knowledgeable in various areas of law, including family law, child welfare law, contract law, and criminal law, among others.
Attorney Hinkson is building a daily legacy of noteworthy brilliance in the legal community and across the State of Georgia as a professional leader and diligent law counsel. She recently made history as the first African American Special Assistant Attorney General for Forsyth County, Georgia, serving the Department of Family and Children Services. Through her astute and fervent commitment to the judiciary and those she serves, she has built a phenomenal career grounded in excellence.
She consistently works in both the superior and juvenile courts throughout Georgia, giving her a rare and unique ability to navigate and understand the distinct systems, policies, and laws of each court. In 2018, Attorney Hinkson became a registered mediator and continues to strive for impactful progress within courts and law firms across the state by assisting in resolving legal disputes without the expense of full litigation.
Attorney Hinkson also seeks to be a powerful presence in the community by speaking at events and providing essential information on family and child welfare law. She believes in showing the public that attorneys can be approachable and positive figures, challenging the misconception that interactions with lawyers only occur during tumultuous times. Her goal is to leave lasting impressions and put clients at ease during difficult and life-altering moments.
As the Owner and Managing Attorney of The Hinkson Firm, LLC, Attorney Hinkson is dedicated to championing her clients and making them the top priority. For her, law is more than a career. It is a purpose: serving others with remarkable devotion and unshakeable morals.
