Edward serves as the Deputy Criminal Chief of the Special Matters Unit in the United States Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Louisiana (“MDLA”). In his unit, he supervises and prosecutes criminal immigration offenses, human smuggling and trafficking crimes, child exploitation offenses, complex financial fraud, and public corruption crimes, among other criminal offenses. He was the 2022 Federal Bar Association Outstanding Leader and was listed in The Best Lawyers in America as a One to Watch for 2021. He is also a member of the National Black Prosecutors Association. Prior to joining the DOJ, Edward clerked for the Honorable Brian A. Jackson in the MDLA and later worked in private practice for a large regional law firm, where he defended publicly traded companies in high-stakes litigation. Edward has also served on the Federal Bar Association Baton Rouge Chapter Board for over five years.
Edward earned his J.D. from the American University Washington College of Law in 2012, where he was the recipient of the James C. Eastman Endowed Scholarship and the Thelma Casto Southard Award. In 2011, Edward co-authored a chapter in an international law textbook regarding the role of multinational, regional courts—specifically, the Inter-American Court of Human Rights.
