Ernestine Mings concentrates her practice on matrimonial and family law and also has extensive experience in civil rights litigation in both state and federal courts. She counsels clients on a wide range of sensitive and complex matters, including allegations of abuse or neglect, domestic violence and orders of protection, prenuptial and postnuptial agreements, separation agreements, custody and access disputes, divorce negotiation and litigation, equitable distribution and related ancillary issues, as well as spousal and child support.

Ernestine is an active speaker and moderator on issues impacting family law and child welfare. Her select speaking engagements include Views from the Bench: Unconscious Bias in Matrimonial and Family Law, where she served as moderator, and The Pitfalls of Article 10: Navigating Child Welfare Proceedings, where she served as co-moderator.

During law school, Ernestine served as a fellow for the Interdisciplinary Center for Child and Family Advocacy and received the Archibald R. Murray and Ruth Whitehead Whaley Awards in recognition of her dedication to public service.

Prior to joining Blank Rome, Ernestine owned and operated her own law practice as a sole practitioner in Brooklyn, New York. She currently resides in Westchester with her husband and two young children.

Ernestine is a member of the Haitian American Lawyers Association, the Metropolitan Black Bar Association, the New York State Trial Lawyers Association, and the New York Women’s Bar Association.

She is actively involved in professional leadership, serving as Vice-Chair of the Family Law Section of the Metropolitan Black Bar Association and as Co-Chair of the Diversity Committee of the New York Women’s Bar Association. She is also a member of the Haitian American Lawyers Association of New York and the Matrimonial Committee of the New York City Bar Association.

Ernestine is admitted to practice law in New York and before the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York.

She earned her Bachelor of Arts from Cornell University and her Juris Doctor from Fordham University School of Law.

Ernestine is fluent in French and Haitian Creole.
