
Demetrius McDaniel is the Co-Regional Operating Shareholder of Texas, Chair of the firm’s Texas Government Law & Policy Practice, and Co-Chair of the firm’s Washington, D.C. Federal Government Law & Policy Practice.
Demetrius counsels and provides advocacy for Fortune 500 companies and other large private and public sector clients on federal, state, and local legal and public policy matters. His broad knowledge of government operations allows him to collaboratively develop strategies that help clients address complex problems with a government origin or nexus.
He consults with clients on their strategic objectives and provides guidance on issues that may impact business opportunities, compliance with laws and regulations, and the development of proactive internal systems to address potential government-related challenges.
Prior to joining the firm, Demetrius served in several capacities in Texas state government, including as a special assistant to a statewide official and as a legislative assistant to a member of the Texas legislature. These experiences gave him an in-depth understanding of the workings of state government.
After seven years in state government, Demetrius joined a major international law firm, where he spent nearly 20 years and rose to the level of capital partner. During his tenure, he represented many of the firm’s major clients on significant issues before both the executive and legislative branches of federal and state governments. His extensive experience working with federal and state officials has provided him with exceptional knowledge and skills to represent clients on a wide variety of issues.
