Alexis Coleman-Watkins

Member Details

Alexis Coleman-Watkins is an attorney with Meriwether & Tharp, LLC who is highly skilled in litigating complex family law matters. Alexis is from North Augusta, South Carolina and attended undergraduate studies at the University of South Carolina in Columbia, South Carolina. Alexis was a natural scholar and was often recognized on the President's List and Dean's List. Alexis obtained her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Criminal Justice and Criminology and graduated with Leadership Distinction in Professional and Civic Engagement in May 2015.

After completing her undergraduate studies at the University of South Carolina, Alexis began her legal studies at Charleston School of Law, in Charleston, South Carolina, in the Fall of 2016. Alexis chose to attend Charleston School of Law in part, due the school's mission statement, "Pro Bono Populi" which means "For the Good of the People." The school's mission was right in line with Alexis' core values as a person and what she endeavored to carry into the legal profession. As a part of the school's requirement to graduate, each student was required to complete 50 hours of community service. Alexis completed well over 50 hours and was highly involved with the school's National Black Law Students Association serving as the Southern Regional Director of Community Service, was an Ackerman Fellow for Charleston Pro Bono Legal Services and served as a LexisNexis Ambassador in her second and third year of law school.

Alexis obtained her Doctor of Jurisprudence (J.D.) from Charleston School of Law in May 2019. Alexis was admitted to the Georgia Bar in November of 2019 and has been practicing family law exclusively since. Alexis is a member of the Family Law Section of the Georgia State Bar and the Gwinnett County Bar Association.

When away from the practice of law, Alexis enjoys traveling, spending time with her husband, two children, and their dog Rocky and visiting friends and extended family.
