Fighting Discrimination Against Natural Black Hairstyles

August 2, 2021

This year's academy award winner for best animated short film has a message behind it. "Hair Love" is about a black father struggling to style his daughter's natural hair.

The creators of the film are using the spotlight to advocate for The C.R.O.W.N. Act, Creating a Respectful and Open World for Natural Hair, which bans discrimination based on a person's hair.

Law Professor Wendy Greene, founder of "Free the Hair' movement and a leading U.S. anti-discrimination law scholar, talks with WACH FOX's Shante Sumpter about the fight against discrimination of natural black hairstyles in the work place.

New York and California has already passed The C.R.O.W.N. Act and South Carolina is trying to pass the same law.
