Debra Scott is a lawyer and principal consultant for SP Consulting. She began her legal career in 1995 at a trusts & estates boutique law firm before transitioning to Bank of America as a Relationship Manager for the Private Bank. In this role, Debra managed Bank of America's first donor-advised fund, along with private foundation accounts and special needs trusts.
In 2000, Debra established The Scott Practice, LLC, where she represented clients on estates & trusts matters and fiduciary disputes. With a law, public health, and accounting background, she brings over 25 years of experience handling fiduciary matters and is a nationally recognized speaker on estates and trusts law.
Debra received her Juris Doctor from Syracuse University College of Law and a master’s degree in Public Health from Emory University, concentrating in Health Management. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Political Science from the University of California, Riverside, and completed post-baccalaureate accounting studies at Clayton State University, where she was inducted into the Golden Key Honor Society.
Throughout her career, Debra has worked with numerous nonprofit organizations, including The Emory Clinic, Nature Abounds, Clayton County Family Care, and the National Association of Chronic Disease Directors. She has also served as a guest lecturer for the RETT Syndrome Association and ARC and continues to speak on topics related to planned giving, estates, and trusts.
