Johnquel “The Real Deal” Neal is the founder and managing attorney of The Johnquel Neal Firm LLC. She is an award-winning trial lawyer who practices personal injury and criminal defense in Georgia. She handles cases that include trucking litigation, car accidents, negligent security, sexual assaults, premises liability, and wrongful death. She is a former Senior Assistant District Attorney in the Major Crimes Division of the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office where the most serious and high-profile cases are prosecuted. Johnquel prosecuted Homicides, Serious Injury by Motor Vehicle cases, and sex crimes. Her extensive prosecutorial experience spans hundreds of cases that range from Fraud and Drug Trafficking to other Violent Crimes. Notably, her role as a lead prosecutor in numerous jury trials has earned her awards for achieving swift jury verdicts, some within ten minutes.
To date, Johnquel has fought and recovered millions of dollars for her clients. Johnquel’s years of civil litigation experience spans handling hundreds of civil cases before opening The Johnquel Neal Firm. Formerly, she was a trial lawyer at a trucking law firm where she focused on suing big trucking companies pursuing justice for her injured clients. Prior to that, Johnquel was employed by one of the largest insurance companies in the country where she defended the company and its clients in personal injury lawsuits. While there, she gained insight into how large insurance defense law firms operate and how insurance companies evaluate cases. Johnquel’s former experience on both sides of the aisle in both civil and criminal cases makes her a triple threat in the courtroom.
Johnquel graduated magna cum laude with a Mass Media Arts degree from Clark Atlanta University. While there, she was a player on the CAU Women’s Basketball team, an Honor Society member, and served as the President of her class. Johnquel continued her education at The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law where she served on law journal. Due to her pro bono legal service, Ohio State awarded her the Public Service Fellow Designation. She graduated with her law degree in 2010 and was admitted to the Georgia Bar the same year. Johnquel also studied international law abroad at the University of Oxford, England.
In addition to her legal career, Johnquel is dedicated to the community. This includes teaching legal concepts and mock trial techniques to elementary students. She is a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Georgia Trial Lawyers Association, Academy of Truck Accident Attorneys and the Georgia Association of Black Women Attorneys. Recognized for her contributions to the community, she has been named a “Public Policy Change Agent.”
