An experienced intellectual property and data privacy attorney, Leanthony focuses on counseling clients at the intersection of entertainment, technology, big data, and new media. He utilizes the law as a tool to solve clients’ problems by helping them protect and enforce their trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets from misuse online and in the marketplace.

Leanthony skillfully navigates the USPTO for clients from selection and clearance of a trademark to representing clients in administrative proceedings before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board. He is also a member of the team managing, supervising and overseeing an international trademark and copyright portfolio in numerous countries for a high-profile billion-dollar ecommerce and retail company. This work includes complex intellectual property licensing frameworks in more than 100 countries.

Clients appreciate Leanthony’s commitment to results, ability to process a lot of complex information and build an executable strategy, and ability to work on large-scale projects domestically and in numerous foreign countries. He has knowledge and experience in privacy law and has obtained the information privacy professional U.S. certification through the International Association of Privacy Professionals (CIPP/US). Leanthony’s experience in this space includes internal and external policy drafting, performing data privacy due diligence, incident response and breach notification, and steering clients through a field of privacy compliance laws, including the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), the New York Department of Financial Services Cybersecurity Regulation, the European Union's General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), EU-U.S. and Swiss-U.S. Privacy Shield Frameworks, the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA), the CAN-SPAM Act, the FCC’s Customer Proprietary Network Information (CPNI) regulations, the American’s with Disabilities Act (ADA), and the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).

Leanthony’s experience is a natural fit with clients in the entertainment, gaming, new media, software and technology industries, and sports industries where his background benefits clients with needs involving content media licensing and other technology agreements, social media, general marketing, advising on FTC guidelines, and promotion restrictions.
