
Nefertiti M. France began her legal career in the United States Air Force in 1993. While serving, she earned her Juris Doctor in 2006 from Rutgers School of Law in New Jersey and later retired from the Air Force as a Master Sergeant in 2010. Her military background reflects a strong foundation of discipline, leadership, and commitment to service.
Ms. France is admitted to practice law in New Jersey (2006), Pennsylvania (2006), and Illinois (2015). She has extensive experience representing clients in all areas of family law, including divorce, child custody, parentage, child support, spousal support and maintenance (alimony), adoptions, orders of protection, and guardianships.
She is a certified mediator and actively encourages alternative dispute resolution when it serves her clients’ best interests. Ms. France is also a Lake County court-approved guardian ad litem and has been court-appointed to represent the interests of children in divorce proceedings.
Prior to joining Strategic Divorce in 2020, Ms. France practiced family law in Illinois for many years as a successful solo practitioner. She brings significant experience handling highly sensitive and volatile matters, with a focus on achieving the best possible outcomes through amicable negotiation and mediation whenever feasible.
While her goal is to help clients avoid the expense and emotional toll of litigation, Ms. France recognizes that some cases require courtroom advocacy. In those matters, she is a fierce and effective litigator, dedicated to protecting her clients’ rights and interests.
Her practice focuses on Family and Matrimonial Law.
Ms. France is a member of the Illinois Bar Association and the Lake County Bar Association. Her prior positions include serving as a solo practitioner at France Law Offices, P.C., and as a Staff Attorney with District Council 33 Legal Services in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
She earned her Juris Doctor from Rutgers School of Law in Camden, New Jersey, in 2006 and her Bachelor of Science from Colorado State University–Pueblo in 2003.
