Nemonie Nooks

Member Details

Nemonie Nooks focuses her practice on education and employment law. She advises educational institutions on compliance with state and federal laws and regulations that impact K-12 schools, colleges, and universities. 

Nemonie's practice is informed by her experience working as an attorney at the U.S. Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights, where she investigated civil rights complaints against school districts, colleges, and universities. Before that, she was an Assistant District Attorney in Cobb and Fulton counties in Georgia. In those roles, she investigated and prosecuted criminal felony cases. Nemonie also interned as a law clerk for the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Georgia, and Tennessee State University's Office of the General Counsel, where she worked on university legal issues related to Title IX, Title VII, and board policies. 

Nemonie earned a bachelor's degree from Georgia State University and a law degree from Vanderbilt University. Prior to law school, she served as an elementary school educator in Boston, Massachusetts. She is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc.
