Lydell Benson, Jr. is an associate in the Firm’s Litigation & Arbitration Practice Group. Lydell advocates for clients across the country in complex disputes in several fields, including business and commercial litigation, bankruptcy and restructuring matters, intellectual property litigation and real estate and construction disputes. Lydell also has experience with brand and reputation management, high-stakes investigations of C-suite executives, and advising clients offering sports and entertainment services. Lydell has a wide-ranging pro bono practice, representing clients in several areas, including education equity, immigration, civil rights, data privacy, and compliance. He is the pro bono and community outreach co-chair of the Firm’s Diverse Attorney’s Working Network, a collective of diverse attorneys and legal staff focused on strengthening their internal community and external networks and assisting one another in the advancement of professional endeavors. Before joining Brown Rudnick, Lydell was a summer associate with the Firm and worked across a variety of practice groups and several pro bono matters. While at George Washington University Law School, Lydell worked as a judicial intern in the Senior Judges Chambers of the Superior Court of the District of Columbia, where he conducted misdemeanor and felony crime-related research, briefed opinions, and prepared bench memos. Additionally, Lydell earned a position as a criminal law & policy initiative fellow under Founding Director and Patricia Roberts Harris Research Professor of Law, Roger A. Fairfax, Jr. In this role, Lydell worked on events and programs around prominent issues in criminal law and policy. Lydell was also an associate for the Journal of Energy and Environmental Law.
