Portland Hotel Named in Racial Discrimination Suit

A guest at a Portland hotel is claiming in a lawsuit that she was required to sign a "no-party" pledge because of her race, while white customers were not.

Felicia Gonzales filed a lawsuit in Multnomah County Circuit Court against Marriott International, its related companies and two employees for race discrimination. 

In her complaint, Gonzales, who is identified as African American and a Marriott rewards member, said she booked five nights at the Residence Inn Portland Downtown/Convention Center on Jan. 25, 2019. When she checked in, the desk clerk made her sign a two-page "no party" policy before getting her room.
