Counsel, Commercial Lending
We are looking for a talented, passionate, and dedicated commercial lending attorney to join our legal team. In this position, you will provide legal advice and strategic expertise to Signature Bank's various commercial lending businesses. You will act as a direct advisor to the commercial lending units and will report to the Assistant General Counsel, Lending.
Primary responsibilities include:
- Advise and counsel private client group managers and commercial lenders on structuring and documenting a variety of credit and banking facilities.
- Provide transactional support, including the review, negotiation and drafting of various loan and collateral documentation, term sheets, commitment letters, assignments, amendments, and waivers.
- Advise the Special Assets and Collections team on waivers, amendments and forbearance agreements for clients in troubled credit situations.
- Prepare and maintain standard commercial loan documentation and procedures.
- Manage closings, including coordinating with internal business units, outside counsel, and title and escrow companies.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 3 years of relevant commercial lending transactional experience practicing at a law firm and/or in-house legal department at a commercial bank or other financial services company. Experience with real estate financings, including title and survey review, preferred.
- Juris Doctorate from an ABA accredited institution required.
- Licensed to practice law in the State of New York.
- Ability to exercise good judgment and decision-making skills under pressure.
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize to meet deadlines.
