NBL Hall of Fame

about the hall of fame

The National Black Lawyers Hall of Fame was created in conjunction with LaBarron Boone, the 2023 NBL President, to encourage future generations of attorneys to make a difference in our legal community while also honoring the ones who have fought tirelessly over the years and have contributed immeasurably to the legal profession with their work on major legal cases, pivotal changes in the law and/ or local or national policy. Being inducted into The National Black Lawyers Hall of Fame is a huge accomplishment for many attorneys because they will become valuable members of a prestigious group of African American attorneys who have contributed immeasurably to the legal profession and have separated themselves as leaders in our community. This year’s awardees have not only used their tremendous talents to benefit the profession but also have mentored and inspired countless African American attorneys.

On January 17, 2024, during the Trial Lawyers Summit at the Loews Miami Beach Hotel, we were able to join together in inducting the first members into The National Black Lawyers Hall of Fame. The attendance for the introduction of our first Hall of Fame Class of lawyers, which included Barbara Arnwine, Fred Gray, Elaine Jones; Judge Charles Price; Hezekiah Sistrunk, and Ben Wilson, was one of a kind and truly amazing. We look forward to many more fellow attorneys being inducted into The National Black Lawyers Hall of Fame for many years to come.

2023 HALL OF FAME AWARDEES

In 2023, we recognized these Hall of Fame Awardees. Throughout their career, each of these individuals has gone above and beyond their call of duty and, in so doing, given the definition of what it means to be a highly successful and influential lawyer.
