THE OPPORTUNITY  

ProGeorgia is seeking a leader in risk management, compliance, and governance to serve in a critical new role as General Counsel. Reporting to the Executive Director, the General Counsel will be responsible for day-to-day legal review and responding to legal issues and questions that arise in the course of ProGeorgia operations and programs.  The General Counsel will manage outside counsel and collaborate closely with law firms that provide legal support for the organization. The General Counsel will serve as a member of the Executive Team.  

 

CANDIDATE PROFILE 

The General Counsel will be a highly organized, analytical, strategic, and flexible partner to the Executive Director and ProGeorgia team.  The ideal candidate for the position will be a committed, innovative leader with an understanding of and respect for grassroots organizing and participatory democracy. The General Counsel will act with the highest integrity and professionalism and have a proven ability to center equity in decision-making, process development, and collaboration.   The General Counsel will have a strong ability to influence stakeholders and teams without direct authority. Additionally, they will be able to respond quickly to questions and issues with succinct and practical advice. The ideal person in this role will provide legal counsel geared to the goals and values of the organization. To be successful, General Counsel will enjoy working in a fast-paced and flexible environment where priorities shift and there are opportunities to learn new tactics, tools and process.  

 

LOCATION  

The position will be based at ProGeorgia’s office in Atlanta, GA. The office operates with a hybrid remote/in-person environment requiring staff to come into the office 2-3 days a week. ProGeorgia is open to qualified candidates willing to relocate to Atlanta, GA.  

 

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS 

The competitive base salary range for this position is $150,000 - $175,000 annually, commensurate with qualifications and experience. In addition, ProGeorgia also offers comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, vision, and life insurance; 401k and company matching; and generous holiday, vacation, and leave benefits.
