Kamara Nwosu focuses her practice on the defense of companies in products liability and class action matters in both state and federal trial courts across the United States. Her practice primarily includes matters that involve challenging multi-jurisdictional issues in areas of mass tort and toxic tort litigation, multi-district litigation as well as white collar, antitrust, and securities disputes. Kamara has represented clients across a variety of industries ranging from life sciences and technology to insurance, personal care/cosmetics, chemicals, and financial services.

Kamara advises clients at all stages of the litigation process. She has played key roles in the development of defense strategy and briefed successful discovery motions in both state and federal court. Kamara also has experience in fact development, complex discovery issues including drafting and responding to written discovery, preparing fact and company witnesses for depositions, taking depositions, resolving various discovery disputes, and day-to-day case management. 

Kamara graduated from the University of Chicago Law School having received the Dean’s Certificate of Recognition for over 50 hours of pro bono service. Kamara clerked for the Honorable Mary M. Rowland of the United States District Court of the Northern District of Illinois.

Kamara has broad experience in international law having completed the Hague Academy’s Public International Law Scholars Program, the International Immersion Program at the University of Chicago Law School, and is a 2020 Cutler Fellow in International Law representing the University of Chicago at the Salzburg Global Seminar for International Law.

Before law school, Kamara interned with the World Organization Against Torture as their UN Committee Against Torture Liaison. Kamara graduated cum laude from Boston University with a B.A. in Political Science and History. Kamara speaks French with working proficiency.

Experience

Kamara maintains an active pro bono practice and was a recipient of the firm’s 2021 “Thomas H. Morsch Award for Pro Bono Achievement” in 2022 and the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois’ “Award for Excellence in Pro Bono Service” in 2022 in connection with her representation of federal prisoners under section 1983 civil rights litigation relating to their conditions of confinement. Kamara additionally has experience providing legal assistance to veterans seeking VA and military disability benefits and help with discharge issues.
