I have been a criminal defense attorney for the past 25 years within the Cook County Public Defender's Office. I have worked in our Civil, Juvenile Justice Divisions, as well as represented clients who faced misdemeanor charges up and including serious felonies such as First Degree Murder. I've also worked in our Appeals/Post Conviction Division as well.
I became a manager in 2015 when I was promoted to an Attorney Supervisor Position in our First Municipal Division where I supervised Attorneys assigned to various branch courts throughout Chicago and oversaw misdemeanor and Felony Preliminary Hearing Rooms. I was promoted to Chief in 2018 and assigned to our Fifth Municipal Division located within the Bridgeview Courthouse where I supervised a staff of 40 and oversaw the day to day activities of this Division. I was promoted to Deputy in March 2024.
I am currently a member of the National Black Law Student Association Alumni Association, an active member of the Black Public Defender's Association, National Legal Aid and Defender Association, and a seat member on the Defender Council within the National Legal Aid and Defender Association.
