On the evening of January 26, 2025, we gathered to honor the legacy of African American legal excellence at The National Black Lawyers Hall of Fame, proudly sponsored by The Cochran Firm and Mirena & Co.
This year’s event was distinctly special as we stepped into Black History Month, reflecting on the profound impact Black attorneys have had—and continue to have—on our justice system. The Hall of Fame is more than an annual celebration; it is living and breathing Black history.
Honoring Legal Legends
We had the privilege of inducting three remarkable individuals who have dedicated their careers to advancing justice and civil rights:
The night began with a lively cocktail hour, where members connected with each other and the awardees, followed by a moving induction ceremony and dinner, where we celebrated the achievements of these legal pioneers. We were proud to include a wonderful message from the second Black president of the ABA, Paulette Brown, welcome several black Florida leaders, including Councilman Reggie Leon from Miami Gardens, Florida, and were honored to be joined by Trayvon Martin’s mom, Sybrina Fulton.
A Night of Inspiration and Legacy
Beyond the honors and awards, this evening was a testament to Black lawyers' strength, resilience, and legal excellence. It was a powerful reminder that we stand on the shoulders of those who came before us and that we are responsible for continuing their good and very hard work.
I am deeply grateful to everyone who attended, supported, and made this night unforgettable.
To my Sisters and Brothers in the legal community, your presence matters, and your work matters. Together, we will continue to shape the future of this country. Hold together and hold strong.
Until next year, let us keep building, inspiring, and honoring each other.
Warm regards,
Ben Wilson
