Derrick C. Flemming was raised in the south Suburbs of Chicago and moved to Houston in 2016 shortly after graduating college. For undergrad, Derrick attended Indiana State University and earned his B.S. in Criminology/Criminal Justice. Derrick went on to graduate from Thurgood Marshall School of Law at Texas Southern University in 2021 and got his license to practice that same year. After graduating law school and passing the bar, Derrick started his legal career in tax law where he defended small and large businesses across the country from audits from both state and federal tax authorities. Derrick has always had a passion for criminal justice and advocacy even well before law school. Derrick originally joined Dunham & Jones in 2022 but left in 2023 to assist nonprofits and grassroots organizations in Florida with building resources around election law and policies. Since 2024, Derrick has returned to Dunham & Jones and is excited to be back in the courts helping Houston clients. Derrick is a member of the State Bar of Texas and the Houston Lawyer’s Association. Derrick also volunteers some of his time as a pro bono attorney with Texas Fair Defense Project.
In his free time, Derrick enjoys spending time with his wife, golfing, being a community organizer, reading, and discovering new restaurants and coffee shops.
