Kimberly France is a local author who has taken on the job of restoring Black history across her community. France says it's a challenging job, but she is committed to seeing it through.
The Carbondale, Illinois native researched her ancestry over three years and wrote "Black Settlements in Southern Illinois."
France wrote the book to document critical pieces of Illinois history and encourage others to research Black history in their communities.
