Coconino County, Arizona is seeking a
confident and engaging professional to join the legal team as its next Senior
Civil Attorney. With
extensive knowledge of a broad range of legal matters, the Senior Civil
Attorney will provide guidance and advice to the County Board of Supervisors
and be responsible for advice and counsel on a wide array of local government
civil-related activities. The
Senior Civil Attorney is a merit base position reporting directly to the Chief
Deputy Attorney. This position has responsibility for managing the Civil
Division of the County Attorney’s Office, including supervising 4 staff
attorneys, overseeing the substantive legal work of staff attorneys, and
providing counsel and advice, ensuring attorney development through mentoring
and training. The Senior Civil Attorney also represents the County Board of
Supervisors and County administration while maintaining a caseload involving
complex or significant legal issues demanding a high degree of resourcefulness
and knowledge.
Requires a Juris
Doctorate and 7 years of legal experience. Candidates
must be a member of the bar in good standing in Arizona and admitted to
practice before the courts of the State of Arizona. An emphasis in local
government law, litigation, land use, employment law, and election law are
desirable. Current active (or ability to re-instate) membership in the State
Bar of Arizona.
Annual salary for
this position may be up to $158,903 DOQ. Coconino County offers a comprehensive
