About the Role
In this opportunity as Senior Legal Editor, Environmental Law & Supply Chain, you will:
Develop content that is of national and global significance to be published as part of Practical Law’s online services.
Write and edit legal resources, including standard form documents, practice guidance notes and checklists in accordance with Practical Law writing style.
Assist in the editorial development of Practical Law or Thomson Reuters products.
Establish and maintain relationships with external law firm contributors.
Write and edit content for Practical Law’s companion magazine, Practical Law The Journal.
Develop relationships with lawyers in private practice and in-house counsel and groups to ensure that the Commercial service’s content is topical and meets their needs.
About You
You’re a fit for the role of Senior Legal Editor, Environmental Law & Supply Chain if your background includes:
A minimum ten (10) years of experience working as a lawyer in a U.S. government agency, law firm, or as in-house counsel and an understanding of the needs and priorities of law firm attorneys, in-house counsel, and compliance professionals. A mix of experience in two of the three is preferred.
Expertise with ESG and supply chains, particularly environmental matters related to ESG, including:
developing environmental, sustainability, or ESG compliance programs for corporations;
sustainability and climate change risk;. and
supply chain compliance.
An understanding of commercial and sustainability (including human rights and environmental) matters affecting supply chains, such as:
drafting and negotiating supply chain contract provisions addressing climate change and sustainability;
developing supply chain net zero targets; and
supply chain compliance auditing.
Skill and passion for writing, including:
close attention to detail;
impressive command of grammar, punctuation, and plain English; and
the ability to write about complex legal issues clearly and simply.
The ability to collaborate with and support team members.
Flexibility in working on tasks other than writing legal resources, such as:
supporting the product development and sales and marketing teams in their efforts to build and market Practical Law;
giving presentations virtually, at conferences, and at the offices of potential subscribers; and
responding to subscriber inquiries regarding Practical Law resources.
Candidates selected for a second interview will be required to submit a writing sample.
