About the Role:  We are looking for an experienced attorney to work closely with our business groups and senior leaders to provide broad-based legal and professional support to our Fabrics Division (FAB), which supplies its input materials under the GORE-TEX brand and other brands for incorporation into finished apparel products and to be used in various end uses ranging from consumer to professional applications worldwide. The Division also sells certain finished products, such as in the hunting, fishing, cycling and running spaces.

In this role you will also be supporting the Gore Enterprise in its commercial/contracting needs, which will include New Business Development, Procurement, Finance, IT, Communications, Logistics, EH&S, HR and other Enterprise functions. Practice areas include familiarity with R&D of products, trademark and IP licensing and general commercial matters, as well as supporting Enterprise functions. There is a preference for this attorney to be based close to one of our Fabrics Division locations in Elkton, Maryland, but consideration will be given to a remote work situation for the right candidate.

Responsibilities:  

  • Provide general legal counsel to the TOF (Technical Oriented Fabrics) business unit of FAB, in support of the FAB General Counsel, advising the businesses and functions regarding business strategies, relevant legal issues, including identification of legal risk and liability avoidance
  • Work closely with the business leaders and other functions to help navigate public tender related issues, product R&D activities, licensing of trademarks and IP rights, relationships with public institutions, environmental related issues, and product commercialization aspects, including contracts, pricing, and advertising
  • Draft, review and negotiate a variety of contracts for FAB TOF and the Enterprise functions (including NDAs, trademark, bankruptcies and IP licensing, supply, R&D, service, consulting, software & hardware, transportation, joint development and manufacturing agreements)
  • Provide legal advice to the contract professionals/managers on a wide variety of contracts and collaborate to develop, update and revise templates on a cross-divisional basis
  • Develop and deliver internal training to targeted FAB TOF and Enterprise function Associate audiences on relevant legal topics
  • Coordinate with other legal team in-house specialists, as well as outside counsel, to secure necessary expertise to ensure that the businesses’ needs are met
