Breanne Gilliam is an Associate in Miller Johnson’s employment practice, where she counsels clients on employee-related matters and disputes.

Ms. Gilliam works with employers on issues involving disabilities and accommodation, employee handbooks and personnel policies, employment discrimination, management and employee training, wage and hour, and workplace harassment. She has defended employers against EEOC and Michigan Department of Civil Rights charges for disability discrimination, housing discrimination, failure to accommodate, workplace harassment, and racial discrimination.

Ms. Gilliam also defends employers in lawsuits filed by current or former employees. She has experience with drafting motions, drafting pleadings, analyzing legal issues, and conducting complex legal research.

Ms. Gilliam is a certified civil facilitative mediator.

Education

Ms. Gilliam earned her J.D., cum laude, from Michigan State University College of Law in 2021. Ms. Gilliam completed the Geoffrey Fieger Trial Practice Institute, which is a two year litigation training program that covers every stage of the trial process from pre-trial preparation to jury selection to sentencing. She also worked as a student-attorney in the Civil Rights Clinic where she represented incarcerated individuals whose civil rights had been violated in the prison system. Ms. Gilliam was a member of the Dean’s List and chair of the Black Law Students Association Academic Committee. She received her B.A in Africana Studies from the University of Pittsburgh in 2017.
