Debra Scott is a lawyer and principal consultant for SP Consulting. Debra began her legal career working for a trusts & estates boutique law firm in 1995 before becoming a Relationship Manager for the Private Bank at Bank of America. As a Relationship Manager, Debra was responsible for managing Bank of America's first donor-advised fund along with private foundation accounts and special needs trusts. In the year 2000, Debra established The Scott Practice, LLC where she represented clients concerning estates & trusts matters and fiduciary disputes. Debra has a law, public health and accounting background.
With over 25 years of experience handling fiduciary matters, Debra is a national speaker on the subject of estates and trusts law. Debra received her Juris Doctor from Syracuse University College of Law and her master's degree in Public Health from Emory University, with a concentration in Health Management. She earned her bachelor's degree in Political Science from the University of California, Riverside and studied accounting post-baccalaureate at Clayton State University where she was conferred membership into the Golden Key Honor Society.
Debra has worked with various nonprofit organizations such as The Emory Clinic, Nature Abounds, Clayton County Family Care and the National Association of Chronic Disease Directors. She has also been a guest lecturer for the RETT Syndrome Association and ARC and continues to lecture on planned giving and estates and trusts topics.
