Doug has wide-ranging experience as a commercial litigator and in the firm’s white collar investigations and defense practice. His litigation practice includes complex commercial litigation, business disputes, contract and fiduciary duty claims, and all phases of pre-trial, trial, post-trial, and appellate litigation. His white collar practice includes representing both individual and corporate clients under investigation by state and federal law enforcement agencies, managing investigatory document reviews and production, communication and negotiations with the government, ongoing advice, and litigation where appropriate. He has litigated in federal court and all levels of California state court.
Doug also has keen experience in litigating bankruptcy adversary proceedings; high-value motions for attorneys’ fees; state, federal, and foreign civil procedure; and enforcing judgments in California for out-of-state and international clients.

Doug previously worked as an associate in an international law firm's Los Angeles office.
Clerkship & Externships
Before joining Arent Fox, Doug served as a law clerk to the Honorable Chief Judge K. Michael Moore of the US District Court, Southern District of Florida. Doug also served as a judicial extern to the Honorable Consuelo B. Marshall of the US District Court, Central District of California, and as a certified extern in the US Attorney’s Office Criminal Division, Central District of California, where he first-chaired and won his first trial.
Firm Citizenship
Doug is the Vice Chair of the firm’s nationwide Associates’ Committee, a member of the Los Angeles Office’s Summer Associate Hiring Committee, and is active in the firm’s hiring and diversity initiatives.
Pro Bono Work
Doug is also very active in the firm’s pro bono efforts. Most recently, he has represented minors seeking asylum at the US border by successfully litigating habeas corpus petitions on their behalf and enforcing their rights under the Flores Settlement Agreement. He also has experience litigating and otherwise filing amicus curiae briefs embracing various constitutional law issues on behalf of the firm’s pro bono clients. Doug also has experience in drafting proposed state and local legislation.
Life Beyond the Law
In his free time, Doug enjoys playing flag football, is a captain of the firm’s Los Angeles softball team, and roots for his beloved Harvard Crimson football team as an alum.
