Teresa Malone Lazard grew up in a working-class family in Frisco City, Alabama. Her parents taught her that leaders treat everyone with respect, work hard to achieve what they want and bring their best into every situation. She has successfully been practicing law with those same basic values that she was taught. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from Auburn University graduating cum laude with a degree in criminal justice. While attending there, she was awarded the Minority Achievement Award for Academic Excellence and was a member of Phi Alpha Delta Law Fraternity International, Inc. As an undergraduate student, she worked various jobs including forklift operator, cashier, and janitor. After graduating from Auburn University, she moved to Georgia and worked as a claims adjuster for a property and casualty company. These jobs gave her a better understanding of challenges that working-class people face each day. She later attended Emory University School of Law and earned her Juris Doctor degree. While attending Emory University, she completed externships at the Department of Veterans Affairs Regional Counsel's Office in Decatur, Georgia, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and Cobb County Legal Aid. Attorney Lazard's career as a trial attorney began when she worked as an Assistant District Attorney for the Northeastern Judicial Circuit of Hall County. For nearly the last decade, she has litigated workers' compensation cases representing employers and insurance carriers in moderate to high exposure workers' compensation cases. She has nearly two decades of experience as a trial attorney. She is admitted to the State Bar of Georgia. She is also admitted to practice before the Court of Appeals of the State of Georgia and the Supreme Court of the State of Georgia. She wants to use her expertise and experience to fight for you.
