Fatmata S. Kabia is Senior Counsel at NBCUniversal Media LLC where she advises various NBC News Group platforms on legal risks associated with newsgathering and assists with pre-publication and pre-broadcast review. Fatmata also contributes her investigations experience in the areas of white-collar crime, sexual misconduct, and human rights.
Prior to joining NBCUniversal, Fatmata was a Senior Associate at Covington & Burling LLP, where she helped clients navigate internal and government investigations and commercial litigation. Fatmata represented private and public companies, corporate directors, and individuals in a variety of industries including transportation, energy, and financial services. As an associate, Fatmata worked in-house as a secondee in the anti-money laundering group of Goldman Sachs. Fatmata was also involved in Covington’s Africa practice, Business and Human Rights practice, and a range of pro bono matters relating to public international law, voting rights, and immigration.
Fatmata has been a featured speaker and panelist at the World Bank, Cornell Law School, Wharton, Clinton Global Initiative University, and more.
She has been named Leadership Counsel on Legal Diversity Pathfinder, Class of 2020; a Super Lawyers List Rising Star 2022; and Top 40 Under 40 Lawyer by the National Black Lawyers (2019-2024).
