Jonathan B. Blakley enjoys a varied litigation practice, in both state and federal courts, with emphasis on health care law, general liability for higher educational institutions, product liability, employment law, and environmental/toxic tort matters. He has experience in all phases of high-exposure and/or complex litigation: from initial evaluation, through trial/arbitration, and appeal.
Specifically, in the health care realm, Mr. Blakley has defended hospitals, physician practice groups, nursing homes, assisted living facilities, health care staffing agencies, and individual medical practitioners against allegations of professional negligence.
Additionally, Mr. Blakley has represented medical device manufacturers in both product liability matters, and hybrid cases involving allegations of product and professional liability.
In the environmental/toxic tort field, Mr. Blakley has represented end-product and chemical manufacturers, with particular focus on medical causation and damages issues.
Mr. Blakley's trial experience includes representation of Chicago-area hospitals in wrongful death actions.
Mr. Blakley holds a B.A. from Dartmouth College, and a J.D. from Chicago-Kent College of Law. As a law student, Mr. Blakley earned Dean's List recognition, and received CALI Awards for his coursework in Genetics and the Law, Entertainment Law, and Electronic Discovery. Further, Mr. Blakley gained experience working as a law clerk at a prominent Plaintiffs' firm during law school.
