A tenacious litigator, Kamara advocates for clients in state and federal courts, and across a variety of industries ranging from life sciences and technology to insurance, personal care/cosmetics, chemicals and financial services. Her practice primarily includes matters that involve challenging multidistrict litigation as well as white collar, antitrust and securities disputes in the defense of companies in product liability and class action matters.
Pretrial Practice
Kamara is highly experienced with motion work, drafting and filing motions in limine, motions to compel, motions for summary judgement, and appellate briefs. She has played key roles in the development of defense strategy and briefed successful motions in both state and federal court. Kamara also has experience in fact development, preparing fact and company witnesses for depositions, taking depositions, resolving various discovery disputes, and day-to-day case management.
Discovery
Kamara is focused on preventing discovery from becoming burdensome for clients. Her experience includes conducting sessions among all parties in cases concerning deficient responses, and she drafts and serves discovery requests for admission and production, including interrogatories. Coordinating the review of hundreds of thousands of discovery documents is routine for Kamara, and her efficient project management of this process is highly sought after, particularly when presented with tight deadlines.
Prior Experience
Before joining Faegre Drinker, Kamara was an associate with a competing firm in Chicago, where she worked on motion practice, discovery and articles for publication in the Business Law Journal. Kamara was a term law clerk for the Honorable Mary M. Rowland at the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, where she drafted opinions and bench memoranda for cases before the court. As a summer associate with competing Chicago law firms, Kamara worked on asylum cases and employee restrictive covenants. Kamara has broad experience in international law, having completed the Hague Academy’s Public International Law Scholars Program, the International Immersion Program, and is a 2020 Cutler Fellow in International Law representing the University of Chicago at the Salzburg Global Seminar for International Law. As a clinic law clerk with the Edwin F. Mandel Legal Aid Clinic in both Chicago and Tanzania, Kamara focused on public interest litigation for Freedom House International and class actions involving the Chicago Board of Education.
