As part of the Business Practice group, Morgan concentrates on a hybrid of matters, including complex tax issues, legal opinions for the Employee Retention Credit, mergers and acquisitions, nonprofit organizations, general corporate law matters, and some pro bono litigation matters.
Prior to joining Hanson Bridgett, Morgan worked as a hybrid M&A/Tax Associate at a national law firm. Morgan began her career at a major accounting firm, serving as the only attorney on a consulting team. While obtaining her LLM in Taxation, from Loyola Law School, she worked at the IRS Counsel's office in Los Angeles, where she negotiated settlements with taxpayers on behalf of the IRS and appeared before the court on behalf of the IRS. She also has experience assisting clients with resolving tax controversies and obtaining settlements with various tax boards including the California Franchise Tax Board, California Employment Development Department and the Internal Revenue Service.
Morgan dedicates many hours to pro bono work with nonprofit tax preparer organizations that assist low-income families filing their taxes as well as nonprofit business creation. She also gives talks at local banks to help small business owners understand the nuances of starting a business.
