Winston James Thompson, III, a resident of Jackson, Mississippi, is managing partner of Thompson Stam PLLC. He is extremely well-versed in both civil and criminal matters and has practiced law for well over 20 years. With his wealth of legal experience, he has recovered substantial monetary damages on behalf of his clients.

Winston’s practice primarily focuses on representing plaintiffs, including victims who have suffered catastrophic injuries and individuals adversely affected by mass torts. Notably, he has litigated numerous Fen-Phen cases in Mississippi and represented the family of a victim in a high-profile wrongful death action. Additionally, Winston was the managing partner of The Cochran Firm in North Mississippi.

Winston has also represented government entities. Previously, he served as the Chief Assistant District Attorney for Hinds County, Mississippi. Additionally, Winston has been lead outside counsel for several Mississippi municipalities and has achieved significant recoveries against multinational conglomerates and publicly traded companies on his clients’ behalf.

Winston earned a bachelor’s degree in marketing/finance at Howard University and his law degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law. He is a member of The Mississippi Bar, the Hinds County Bar Association, the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, and the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, among other professional affiliations.
